Moviyana Film Society is holding a two-day workshop on French film critic Andre Bazin marking his 100th birth anniversary at Seminar Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Art critic Moinuddin Khaled and film critic- writer Mahmudul Hossain are conducting the workshop coordinated by Moviyana Film Society president Belayat Hossain.
‘Through this workshop we want to promote Andre Bazin among young film enthusiasts,’ said Belayat Hossain.
The workshop, which began on Friday, ends today. It is open to all.
André Bazin was born on April 18, 1918. He was a renowned and influential French film critic and film theorist.
Bazin started to write about film in 1943 and was a co-founder of the renowned film magazine Cahiers du cinéma in 1951, along with Jacques Doniol-Valcroze and Joseph-Marie Lo Duca.
He was a major film critic and researcher of the 20th century. He died on November 11, 1958 at the age of 40.
