Bangladesh Under-15 men’s football team has set their primary target of beating Maldives in the four-nation UEFA Under-15 friendly tournament, scheduled to be held in Buriram, Thailand from December 10-14.
The Under-15 team, who are the holders of the SAFF Under-15 Championship, will leave here for Thailand on Saturday.
The other teams of the tournament are — hosts Thailand and Cyprus.
Cyprus is the only European nation taking part in the tournament, organised by UEFA in association with the Asian Football Confederation with a view for youth football development under the UEFA Assist Mini Tournament Project.
Bangladesh will begin their campaign with the match against Cyprus on December 10 before facing Thailand and Maldives on December 12 and 14 respectively.
The champions will be decided on the basis of points and each team will play three matches, facing each other in one game.
‘Since we played against Maldives and beat them in SAFF [Under-15] Championship our first target is to beat them again in the meet,’ said Bangladesh coach Mostofa Anowar Parvez during a press conference at the BFF House on Wednesday.
‘We also have the chance to win against Thailand and will try our best to win against Cyprus.
‘We gathered experience from SAFF Championship. We are prepared to face all the opponents,’ the coach added.
Bangladesh captain Mahedi Hasan echoed the coach.
To earn a good result in Thailand, Bangladesh Under-15 boys went through a confidence-building training programme at the Kamalapur stadium following their SAFF championship campaign in Nepal in October-November.
