Grand Master Ziaur Rahman became champion in the 44th National ‘A’ Chess Championship, which ended on Monday at National Sports Council old building.
Zia earned 8.5 points to clinch the title for the 14th time and first title since 2014.
In last round game on Monday, Zia beat Fide Mater Tibur, his eighth win in the competition to confirm his national title.
International Master Abu Sufian Shakil and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag earned 7 points each. In tie-breaking system, Shakil became runner-up and FM Parag became 3rd.
