A class IX student of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College committed suicide at their Shantinagar residence on Monday allegedly due to humiliation by her teachers.

The school principal went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 7:15pm while the deceased’s relatives and a number of guardians and students became agitated and kept her car cordoned off demanding punishment of those who humiliated them, though the principal left the spot within minutes.
Dilip said her daughter sat for Social Science examination in her school’s yearly examination on Sunday when the teachers seized her mobile phone allegedly for copying answers from the mobile phone.
The teachers asked her to go to the school on Monday along with her guardians, he said.
On Monday, when Dilip, his wife and Aritri went to the school, they were made to wait for over an hour at the gate.
Later, they were allowed to meet the vice-principal of the school who insulted them, asked them to go out and to take her transfer certificate from the school on the following day, Dilip alleged.
He said that they later went to the principal Nazneen Ferdous’ room where they were again insulted in the presence of a school managing committee member and at this juncture Aritri ran away from the principal’s chamber.
Dilip said that when he and his wife returned to their residence, they found Aritri hanging from a ceiling fan.
He said that they then took her to a nearby hospital from where he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 4:30pm.
He alleged that his daughter committed suicide as she could not endure insult of his parents in her presence by the teachers.
