The Anti-Corruption Commission chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Thursday said the commission would take legal action if any candidate uses black money in the name of election expenditure during the upcoming parliamentary polls.
‘Conducting election is responsibility of the Election Commission but the ACC will observe the use of black money in the name of expenditure,’ he said while addressing a view-exchange meeting held at ACC head office in the capital.
During the programme on the 14th founding anniversary of the commission, Iqbal said commission strongly believed that people would not elect any person who had amassed illegal wealth.
He said that the ACC was hopeful that all the aspirants would follow transparency over election expenditure and they would submit its statement to the EC on scheduled time.
He said that the commission would take legal action if illegal wealth of any aspirant was found.
It will also take action if they give false information in their affidavit, he said.
ACC commissioner AFM Aminul Islam, secretary Shamsul Arefin, and director general Mustafizur Rahman also spoke among others.
