Three Inspectors of the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority were transferred instantly after the Anti-corruption Commission found evidence of their involvement in corruption and irregularities.
A squad of ACC conducted the drive at Fakirapool office of Dhaka WASA after receiving allegations of corruption against its officials and employees over its hotline, 106.
The ACC team found inspectors Shafiqul Islam and Shah Miran Bhuiyan had been involved in drafting reduced WASA bills in exchange for bribes while inspector Golam Rabbani had prepared bills without inspecting metres.
‘Public sufferings increased many folds due to such field level corruption. The ACC is committed to reducing such corruption through conducting regular surveillance,’ said director Mohammad Munir Chowdhury of the ACC.
