Two killed, one injured

A suspected drug peddler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Detective Branch members in Mymensingh and another died of fall from a multi-storied building in Sylhet on Wednesday.
Police arrested another suspected drug peddler with bullet wounds on his legs in Lalmonirhat.
The latest casualties increased the number of deaths of suspected drug peddlers to 273 during the ongoing anti-drug drives since May 15.
The New Age correspondent in Mymensingh, quoting Mymensingh district DB officer-in-charge Shah Kamal Akhand, reported that suspected drug peddler Md Sumon, 27, of Kalibari area of Mymensingh, got shot during a ‘gunfight’ with detectives at Charpuliamari area of Mymensingh Sadar upazila at about 12:45am on Wednesday and was declared dead when he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
The deceased was wanted in 10 cases, filed mostly under Narcotics Control Act, the OC said, adding that they seized four kilograms of hemp from the spot.
The New Age correspondent in Sylhet, quoting the police and victim’s family members, reported that Md Abdullah, 33, of village Uttar Noagram at Goainghat upazila in the district and accused in a drug related case, died after falling of the roof of his rented residence at Falguni Residential Area of Shah Paran police station in Sylhet.
Abdullah’s elder brother Tajul Islam told reporters that the police conducted a raid in the house at around 4:00am to arrest Abdullah, who was accused in a drug-related case.
As Abdullah tried to escape the scene by jumping over, he fell from the roof. He got critical injuries.
He said that Abdullah was immediately rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital but doctors declared him dead.
Shah Paran police officer-in-charge Akhter Hossain confirmed the news and said a case of unnatural death was recorded with the police in this regard.
The New Age Correspondent in Lalmonirhat, quoting Sadar Police Station OC Mahafuz Alam, reported that the police arrested suspected drug peddler Aminul Islam, 42, of Saptana of Lalmonirhat district town with bullet injuries on both legs after a gunfight at Kulaghat under Sadar upazila in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday 3:30am.
He said Aminul was wanted in 13 drug-related cases and he was arrested from the spot with 50 bottles of Phensedyl.
