MTB to issue UnionPay cards

Mutual Trust Bank has signed a partnership agreement with UnionPay International, the largest card payment organisation in the world in terms of number of cards under issuance recently, said a press release.
UnionPay International CEO Cai Jianbo and MTB managing director and CEO Anis A Khan signed the agreement on behalf of the respective organisations at the head office of UnionPay International, Shanghai, China.
Under the agreement, MTB will issue UnionPay debit and credit cards (both contact and contactless) as the first private commercial bank in Bangladesh, the release also said.
The bank will also acquire UnionPay cards across its wide network of point of sales (PoS) devices and ATMs and launch UnionPay QR code, P2P and money express, said the release.
MTB EVP and cards head Mohammad Anwar Hossain and senior officials of UnionPay International were also present at the signing ceremony.
