Announcement of election schedule before reaching any political consensus on holding free and fair general election was very much frustrating and scary, observed the leaders of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh on Friday.
Addressing a rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka SPB general secretary Khalequzzaman said the Election Commission announced the schedule hurriedly without considering the development of dialogues between political parties over the election.
The SPB organised the rally marking 38th founding anniversary of the party and 101th anniversary of October Socialist Revolution in Russia.
He called on the Election Commission to re-arrange the election schedule so that all political parties could participate in the election.
SPB central leaders Bazlur Rashid Firoj, Rajekuzzaman Ratan and Nikhil Das spoke at the rally.
Several hundred leaders and activists of the party carrying red flags attended the rally.
The rally was followed by a procession that paraded different city roads.
