Garment waste trader shot dead in Mirpur

A garment waste trader was shot to death and a pedestrian injured as unidentified assailants opened fire on them in front of Udayan School on Paris Road of Mirpur 11 in Dhaka on Friday night.

The deceased was Mohiuddin Khan Mohon, in his forties, a resident of Jhutpatti Road of Mirpur 10 area, while the injured pedestrian is Md Hasan Ali, also in his forties, a restaurant worker and resident of Paris Road area, confirmed Pallabi Police Station officers.

Al-Amin, one of the relatives of deceased Mohom, at Dhaka Medical College Hospital told reporters that a group of five to six miscreants shot Mohon in front of Udayan School at about 8:45pm on Friday.

The assailants fled the scene leaving Mohon and Hasan injured, he said, adding that the locals immediately rushed them to a nearby hospital from where they were taken to DMCH.

He, however, could not give any reason behind the killing.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Bachchu Mia told New Age that Mohon, who received two bullets in his right chest and one on the right back, was declared dead at the hospital at about 10:15pm.

Hasan received one bullet in his right arm, he said.

Pallabi police sub-inspector Shahidul Islam acknowledged the incident and said none was arrested over the incident.
