Proshanta Mridha wins Gemcon Sahitya Puraskar

Proshanta Mridha has won Gemcon Sahitya Puraskar 2018 for his novel Dugdugir Ashor.
He received the award during a ceremony held on Friday at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad
Auditorium of Bangla Academy.
Besides, promising writer Hamim Kamal and young poet Nayeem Hasan respectively won the Tarun Katha Sahitya Puraskar and Tarun Kabita Puraskar.
Gemcon Group has been conferring the award since 2000. The award was introduced as Kagoj Sahitya Puraskar and it was renamed as
Gemcon Sahitya Puraskar in 2007.
Gemcon Group vice chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed, professor Nikhilesh Roy, professor Biswajit Ghosh, poet Sumon Goon, poet Dr Mohammad Sadiq and others were present during the
awards ceremony.
‘Thank you. I am deeply honoured to receive this award,’ said Proshanta Mridha, who received prize money of Tk 8 lakh as part of the award.
Hamim Kamal and Nayeem Hasan won awards for their respective manuscripts titled ‘Sonailer Bone’ and ‘Dil Nilaamer Haat’.
Kamal and Nayeem each received prize money of Tk 1 lakh.
Earlier, Syed Shamsul Haq, Hasan Azizul Haq, Syed Manzoorul Islam, Mohammad Rafiq, Zakir Talukder, Shahidul Zahir and others received Gemcon Sahitya Puraskar.
