Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said that they hoped opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party would take part in the next general election.
Speaking at a press conference at Dhanmandi-3 political office of the party president Sheikh Hasina, following a meeting of the party secretaries in the afternoon before announcement of election schedule by the Chief Election Commissioner, Quader, also the road transport minister, said, ‘We are hoping for the best and prepared for the worst.’
The AL general secretary said their party would continue with its countrywide mass contacts as part of preparations for the next general elections.
‘Moreover, Awami League will start selling nomination forms from tomorrow to the party’s aspirant candidates in the 11th national elections,’ Quader said.
‘The party will also increase its mass contact programmes after announcement of election schedule’ Quader added.
The joint general secretaries of the party Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, central leaders Ahmad Hossain, Bahauddin Nasim, Enamul Haque Shamim, Muhibul Hassan Chowdhoury and others attended the meeting.
