Folk singers from across the country entertained music lovers rendering popular Lalon songs at a programme held at the Liberation War Martyrs’ Memorial in Manikganj town on Sunday.
The programme, titled ‘Lalon Smriti Utsab 2018’, was organised by Manikganj-based Achin Pakhi Lalon Sangathan, which has been organising the festival annually for the last seven years to promote Lalon’s songs.
Kushtia-based Nizam Baul, Rajshahi-based Dulal Baul, Achin Pakhi Lalon Sangathan artiste Nazim Master, Manikganj-based artistes Sohana Baul, Alif Baul and others performed Lalon’s songs celebrating humanism, tolerance and peace from evening until midnight at the programme.
The event also included a discussion where chairman of Manikganj District Council SM Bahrain Haque, editor of Daily Al Azan Aminul Haque, director of Achin Pakhi Lalon Sangathan Nazim Master and director of Dapsasur Sangeet Academy Basudev Saha, among others, spoke on the life and works of Lalon.
The programme drew a large audience.
‘I have really enjoyed the show. The programme featured a rich collection of Lalon songs that teach us to be more tolerant to each other. I wish Achin Pakhi Lalon Sangathan
success in its future endeavours’, said Aparna, an audience member, to New Age.
