Writer Sakib Rayhan is trying his hand at direction.
After making his directorial debut with the teleplay Chouhati, which was released online, Sakib is now directing a thirteen-episode web-series titled ‘Sub-Sublet’.
‘I became inspired to direct a web-series after the success of Chouhati. Before making my directorial debut I wrote a teleplay Abohoman and drama series Chowrongi. I also wrote a few novels like Abbritto, Trikal, Phirey Dekha, Shital Rakta and Zamindar Bari’, said Sakib.
‘The first three episodes of Sub-Sublet, each episode having running time of 20 minutes, have already been released on Airtel Screen. The rest of the episodes will be released soon’, he added.
Sub-Sublet, produced by Bangladhol Ltd, is a comedy that revolves around a youth named Nazmul, played by Niloy, who sublets from landlord Morabarak, played by Marjuk Rasel.
Nazmul subsequently falls for the landlord’s sister Tania, played by Shahtaz.
Things get interesting after Nazmul further sublets the room to Komol, played by Shahed Shahriar, and Nayeem, played by Shamim Ahmed.
‘The series will narrate funny stories revolving around Nazmul, Mobarak and Tania. I hope the viewers will find the series entertaining’, said Sakib, also writer of Sub-Sublet.
The young director said that he chose to direct web-series because online platforms do not follow the lengthy and controversial selection procedures followed by TV channels.
‘It is easier to release teleplays or web-series online. Besides, we can promote our productions to a global audience and earn revenue at the same time,’ said Sakib.
‘I look forward to direct a few more web-series in future,’ he added.
