Death toll from Panchagarh accident rises to 10

At least 10 people were killed and 28 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Panchagarah-Banglabandha road at Dashmile in Panchagarh Sadar Friday night.

The dead are Lovely, 29, her son Yasin, 7, Rezaul, 22, Farid, 28, Anitya, 20, Russel, 27, Laila, 25, Lutfor, 20, Mojammel, 38 and Manir, 10. Their detailed identities could not be known immediately.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Abu Akkas Ahmed said that a Tentulia-bound bus collided head-on with the Panchagarh-bound truck around 7:45pm.

The accident left six people dead on the spot and 32 others injured, he said, adding that four of the injured died after they were admitted to Panchagarh General Hospital.

Of the injured, he said, 13 were so far admitted to Panchagarh General Hospital.
