Bikalpadhara Bangladesh’s faction floated on Friday relieved president Badruddoza Chowdhury, secretary general Abdul Mannan and joint secretary general Mahi B Chowdhury from the party a week after the formation of new political alliance Jatiya Oikya Front.
B Chowdhury-led Bikalpadhara, who was left out of the Front, however, claimed that the leaders of the new faction were nobody of the party.
The new faction expressed solidarity with the Front’s seven-point demand and 11-point objectives.
The faction’s secretary general Shah Ahmad Badal in front of the National Press Club announced that they have relived Badruddoza Chowdhury, Abdul Mannan and Mahi B Chowdhury from Bikalpadhara for ‘deviating’ from the party’s principle and ideal and taking a stance against the demand of mass people.
Badal, who was vice-president of the undivided Bikalpadhara, announced Dhaka University teacher Nurul Amin Bepari as president and himself as secretary general of Bikalpadhara.
Bepari was a presidium member of Bikalpadhara, led by B Chowdhury.
Badal said a full-fledged committee would be declared soon.
He expressed solidarity with the seven-point demands and eleven-point objectives of the newly-formed political alliance Jatiya Oikya Front, led by Gono Forum president Dr. Kamal Hossain, and announced to join all the programmes of the Front.
Badal complained that he received ‘threat’ from an ‘unknown’ phone call on Thursday night, asking him not to make any move for splitting Bikalpadhara.
He also alleged that even after booking National Press Club for holding their press conference on Friday, they were not allowed to use the venue.
Badal said, as a result, they declared the committee outside the Press Club to avoid any untoward incidents.
Bikalpadhara joint secretary general Mahi B Chowdhury, also the party’s spokesman, at a news briefing at B Chowdhury’s Baridhara residence said those, who expelled the Bikophodhara president and secretary general, they were expelled one month ago.

They are none of Bikalpadhara, Mahi said. ‘So forming the party naming Bikalpadhara is heinous and ridiculous
The move of breaking Bikalpadhara came after launching of Jatiya Oikya Front without Bikalpadhara on October 13.
On the same day of the launching, Bikalpadhara president B Chowdhury at a news conference at his residence announced that his party was not in the new Front as two conditions of Bikalpadhara were not met.
