Restoration of 5pc quota for ethnic minorities demanded

Ethnic minority people on Thursday demonstrated in Sylhet city demanding restoration of five per cent quota privilege for them in government jobs.
They made the demand from a rally under the banner of Brihattar Sylhet Adivasi Chhatra Parishad in front of Central Shaheed Minar at Chowhatta in the city in the afternoon. Before the rally they formed a human chain at the same venue.
Speakers at the programme said that they would continue their agitation programmes demanding restoration of five per cent quota privilege for the ethnic minority people.
Bangladesh Manipuri Chhatra Parishad Shubha Kumar Singha chaired the rally that was addressed, among others, by Manipuri Social Welfare Association city unit president Nirmal Kumar Singha, its general secretary Sangram Singha, Manipuri Social Welfare Association general secretary Kamalbabu Singha, Bangladesh Manipuri Chhatra Parishad vice-president Ruma Sinha, its general secretary Kiran Singha, Ashraful Kabir and Joy Sharma.
