Nazrul convention held in Washington

Popular singers from Bangladesh and India rendered Nazrul Sangeet at the 17th Nazrul Convention held in Washington DC in the USA recently.

It was organised jointly by Dhrupad and BAIE.

Singers like Khilkhil Kazi, Fatema tuz Zohra, Nashid Kamal, Salauddin Ahmed, Meher Afroze Sharon, Dorothy Bose, Bidisha, Riddhi Bannerjee and Tushar Dutta sang songs at the convention.

Warda Rihab presented dance recitals based on Nazrul’s songs.

Nashid Kamal’s book titled ‘The Path of the Comet and Other Essays’ published by Nazrul Institute this year was the centre of discussion by professor emeritus Winston Langley, who spoke on the topic ‘Truth in Nazrul Islam’s work’, said a press release.

He specially mentioned three articles:  Address to the youth, Confessions of a State Prisoner (Rajbondir Jobanbondi), and the Path of the Comet. He mentioned about Nazrul reversing the role of the prisoner.
