British Council promotes film Debi

A daylong promotional programme of the upcoming film Debi, based on Humayun Ahmed’s novel with the same title, was held on Monday at the British Council on Fuller Road.

The programme included screening of an unreleased trailer of the film, discussions and fashion exhibition, said a press release issued by the British Council in Bangladesh.

The producer and actress of the film Jaya Ahsan, actor Chanchal Chowdhury, who plays the protagonist Misir Ali in the film, shared their experiences of acting in the film and also talked about the making process of the film from the popular novel.

‘This was a very challenging task for me to portray the role of Ranu and I had to go through a complete psychological transformation, said Jaya Ahsan.

‘I am waiting with great anticipation for the response from the audience.’ she said.

The film Devi starring Jaya Ahsan, Chanchal Chowdhury, Animesh Aich, Iresh Zaker and Sabnam Faria, and directed by Anam Biswas, is scheduled to release on October 19 across the country.
