Liton to take RCC mayoral charge Friday

AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, newly elected mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation, will take charge of his office Friday.
The RCC will arrange a colourful installation ceremony at its green plaza in the afternoon on the occasion with commissioner of Rajshahi division Nur-Ur-Rahman in the chair, said Shah Momin, chief executive officer of RCC.
Talking to journalists in Rajshahi on Thursday, Liton said, ‘I want to restore the previous image of Rajshahi as a green and clean city.’
He was committed to generating employment opportunities for one lakh unemployed people. He was also pledge-bound to build Rajshahi as a prosperous, modern and developed city.
Liton pledged to expedite industrialisation in the city and its outskirts.
‘I am very hopeful about improving the living and livelihood conditions of Rajshahi residents as the present government under the dynamic leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina is positive towards Rajshahi’s development,’ he added.

He said implementation of Bangabandhu Hi-tech Park in Rajshahi was progressing fast and employment scopes for more than 14,000 youth would be created upon its completion.
‘I have plans for setting up five star hotels, BKSP cricket venue, an agricultural university and a heart foundation in the city,’ he said.
