M Shahidul Islam has been appointed as the managing director and CEO of Shahjalal Islami Bank with effect from Monday, said a press release.
Prior to his appointment, he was the additional managing director of Shahjalal Islami Bank.
Before joining at Shahjalal Islami Bank, he was the additional managing director of United Commercial Bank, the release also said.
Shahidul started his banking career with National Bank as ‘Probationary Officer’ in 1984. He served at Prime Bank before joining at United Commercial Bank Limited in 2008 as deputy managing director. He was elevated to the rank of additional managing director in UCBL in March 2011, said the release.
He has experience in almost every key areas of banking like corporate credit, SME credit, foreign trade, consumer banking, credit risk management, syndicated finance, foreign investment, finance as well as treasury, the release said.
Shahidul obtained post graduate degree with honours in management from University of Chittagong.
