Kanthashilan organised a recitation show titled ‘Kabitar Asor’ at its office on Elephant road on Friday.
Five recitation artistes, including, two Kanthashilan artistes and three guest artistes performed at the show, which was organised by Kanthashilan as part of its quarterly programme.
Kanthashilan artistes Shafiq Siddiqui and Anonno Goshami, Muktodhara Sanskriti Charcha Kendra artiste Zebunnessa Jibon, Katha Abbriti Kendra artiste Anayet Hossain and Swaroshruti artiste Jubaer Milon performed at the show.
Actor and recitation artiste Syed Hasan Imam was present as the chief guest at the programme.
‘We have many recitation troupes working to popularise poetry in the country. The troupes should organise regular recitation shows to promote up and coming artistes,’ said Syed Hasan Imam.
Shafiq Siddiqui recited excerpts from a short story of Sukumar Roy and Mukit Haider’s poem Bhabitechi.
Zebunessa Jibon recited Shuvo Dasgupta’s Jonmodin at the show.
‘I always try to attend recitation programmes organised by Kanthashilan, which organises a recitation show once every three months featuring performances by both seasoned and up and coming recitation artistes. However, I think the organisation should arrange one programme every month,’ Nasrin Sultana, an audience member, told New Age.
Kanthashilan president Golam Sarwar presided over the programme.
