Coaching centre executive remanded for maligning Mujib

A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate’s court on Thursday remanded an English-medium coaching centre teacher in police custody for three days for interrogation in a case for his Facebook post praising the killers of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The case was filed by Bangabanghu Prokaoshali Parishad member Muhammad Nazmul Hossain Pias on August 23 with Dhanmondi police station under the Information and Communications Technology Act
According to the complaint, the suspect, Fuad Zaman, on his Facebook wall wrote on August 15, ‘Salute to those who sacrificed themselves to make our motherland Bangladesh free from the autocratic rule of Sk Mujib on the 15th of August 1975. The nation specially prays for the departed soul of great freedom fighter and martyrs: Col Shahriar Rashid, Col Faruk Rahman, Col Mohiuddin, Maj Bazlur Huda, Maj Mohiuddin. May All Mighty ALLAH grant them the ultimate paradise…Jannat-Ul-Ferdous.’
The counter terrorism and transnational crime unit’s cyber security wing officials said that they arrested Fuad at Hatirjheel at about 10:00pm on Wednesday.
Fuad Zaman, son-in-law of Sultan Shahriar Rashid, one of the people executed on charge of murder of Sheikh Mujib, is vice-principal of coaching centre The Solutions Centre. Earlier he used to teach at several English-medium schools in Dhaka.
Fuad Zaman was produced before the court of metropolitan magistrate Kaysarul Islam who passed the order.
