Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said that the next general election would be held in time as per the constitution.
He said that if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party did not accept the election-time government then it would count for nothing as they were not invited to join this.
The minister made the remarks after attending the 11th Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority board meeting at its head office in the capital.
Obaidul, also the road transport and bridges minister, said United Nations could invite anyone but the government would not bow down to any international pressure.
He was replying to a question over BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s visit to United States of America with an invitation of United Nations.
‘We will take our decisions by ourselves,’ he said, adding that they would not bow down to any unconstitutional demand.
About BNP’s hunger strike, Obaidul said currently no one is responding to their movement.
If their politics is non-violent they are welcome it but in case of violent politics they would be dealt with politically with the help of public.
