Tuesday’s sitting of parliament was adjourned hurriedly because of power disruption at the parliament building.
The day’s business began at 5:10pm with speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, but it had to be adjourned till 5:00pm today after running the day’s proceedings for an hour with the power support of the generator.
Deputy speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, who was in the chair at that time, suspended the remaining businesses of the day at 6:15 pm.
The deputy speaker told reporters that the day’s business was adjourned because of power disruption.
He said Meghnaghat Power Plant supplied the electricity to the parliament complex. But the power
supply stopped because of the failure in Meghnaghat Power Plant.
‘We have adjourned the day’s business running the sitting with the power support from generator for an hour,’ he said.
