Young man shot dead in Dhaka

Unidentified assailants shot a 35-year-old man to death in Balur Math area under Kamrangirchar police station in the capital on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Sharif Alam Chowdhury, son of Kubbat Ali Chowdhury of Alampur in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj.
Sharif used to work at a workshop in Battery Ghat area under Kamrangirchar police station and used to live in Paschim Islambagh.
Pedestrian Zakir Hossain, who brought the unidentified victim to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said that he found the man with bullet injuries under a lamp-post in Kamrangirchar Balur Math area around 10:30pm.
When he took the man to DMCH, on duty doctors declared him dead.
Kamrangirchar police station officer-in-charge Shahin Fakir said that they had visited the spot and the hospital but were unable to ascertain the reason behind the murder.
No one was arrested in this connection, he said.
Hospital officials said that the body bore bullet wounds on the right side of the chest and left shoulder.
The body was later sent to the hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
On Monday afternoon, victim’s elder brother Farhad Alam and brother-in-haw Md Salauddin, came to the DMCH after seeing the news about the death of an unidentified man and identified the victim as Sharif.
They, however, could not tell why Sharif was hacked to death.
