A Dhaka court on Sunday sent two people, including mayor of Sripur municipality in Gazipur Anisur Rahman, to jail in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Dhaka divisional special judges’ court passed the order after Rahman surrendered before it seeking bail in four cases. Former accountant of the municipality Abdul Mannan also sought bail in two cases.
According to the court officials, Rahman was granted bail in one case out of the four while Mannan was declined bail in both cases.
The ACC filed the cases against the two men for allegedly misappropriating money from the municipality between 2010 and 2013.
