Fire killed at Askardighirpar slum and nearby areas in Chittagong killed a sexagenarian Thursday night.
The deceased was Arun Chakraborty, 65. He was accountant of Sri Sri Lokanath Brahmachari Temple of Askardighirpar area.
The fire broke out at west side of Askardighirpar slums adjacent to Lokanath Brahmachari Temple at about 7:30pm.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost assistant sub-inspector Shilabroto Barua said that firefighters brought one injured to the hospital. But he died due to inhalation complications caused by smoke.
Eleven fire engines were working to douse fire, said Fire Service and Civil Defence assistant director Kamal Uddin.
