Two killed, 15 injured as villagers clash

Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a clash over land related dispute at village Shidlai under Brahmanpara upazila in Comilla on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Khorshed Alam, 45, and Shanu Miah, 60, a tea stall owner, of the same village.
Witnesses said there was a long standing enmity between Shamsul Haque and his neighbour Md Liton over a piece of land
As a sequel to the enmity, the two groups equipped with sharp weapons were locked into a fierce clash, leaving Khorshed dead on the spot and 16 others injured.
The injured were rushed to Comilla Medical College Hospital where Shanu Miah succumbed to his injuries.
The two deceased belonged to Shamsul’s group, said the victim’s family members.
Brahmanpara Police Station officer-in-charge Shahjahan Kabir said that they deployed police forces in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
A case was lodged but none was arrested in this connection.
