BRSSS holds 2-day Tagore music programme

Eighty seasoned and promising Tagore artistes from across the country rendered Tagore songs of diverse genres at a two-day programme, which ended on Saturday at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.

Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha organised the programme marking nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore’s 77th death anniversary, which was observed on August 6.

Though Rabindranath Tagore’s death anniversary was observed in August, BRSSS could not organise the programme back then due to unavoidable circumstances, informed Tapan Mahmud, president of BRSSS.

On the concluding day of the two-day programme, renowned Tagore singers like Shama Rahman, Tapan Mahmud, Aditi Mohsin, Sajed Akbar, Mohadev Ghosh, Pijush Barua, Roma Barai, Aparna Khan, Shimu Dey, Ankhi Halder and others entertained the audience singing popular Tagore songs.

On Friday, BRSSS artistes commenced the two-day programme with chorus rendition of devotional songs Sokatore oi kandichhe sokole and Aguner paroshmoni.

Besides, BRSSS artistes entertained the audience with solo and duet renditions.

In solos, Tagore singers like Azizur Rahman Tuhin rendered Tagore’s devotional song Khelar sathi biday dwar kholo, Asiful Bari sang Tagore’s devotional song Charan dharite diyogo amare, Jayanta Acharya sang Tagore’s nature song Aji jharer ratey, Amina Ahmed rendered a love song Tomar geeti jagalo smriti, Mamun Jahid Khan sang devotional song Tomay natun kore pabo bole, Makbul Hossain sang Tagore’s nature song Amar je din gechhe vese, Bula Mahmud sang love song Aj tomare dekhte elem, Chhaya Karmakar presented Jakhan porbe na mor payer chinha, Semanti Manjari rendered Chira sokha chherona morey and Tanjina Toma sang Emon diney tarey to the delight of the audience.

Besides, Tagore artistes like Anupam Kumar Pal, Liton Chandra Baidya, Mridul Chakrabarty, Pramod Dutt, Ashikur Rahman, Dipa Chowdhury, Rifat Jamal Mitu, Mira Mandol, Prantika Sarkar, Rabeya Akhter and Anindita Roy, among others, performed at the programme on Friday.
