A joint development agreement was signed on Friday between the state owned North-West Power Generation Company and Siemens AG, Germany to facilitate the establishment of Payra 3600 MW LNG‑based power project in Patuakhali.
In a JDA singing ceremony held at a city hotel, NWPGCL company secretary Dipak Kumar Dhali and Richard Clayton Reising, president of Siemens Gas to Power, inked the papers on behalf of their respective organisations.
NWPGCL chief executive officer Khurshedul Alam said that the agreement would help to finalise the feasibility study, power purchase, initial environmental assessment, land leasing and gas supply agreements.
Power division secretary Ahmad Kaikaus was present as the chief gust while Power Development Board chairman Khaled Mahmood, deputy head of mission of German embassy in Dhaka Michael Schultheiss and chief executive officer of Siemens Bangladesh Prabal Bose were present.
