Fake rupee factory unearthed in Rajshahi: 1 held

The Rapid Action Battalion unearthed a fake rupee-manufacturing factory and arrested one person with 11 lakh Indian rupees in Beldarpara area under Boalia police station in Rajshahi city Thursday midnight.
The arrested was identified as Darduzzaman alias Jaman, 57, of village Sheikhtala in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
On a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted a raid at Jaman’s house and arrested him red-handed.
In addition to the counterfeit notes, the RAB team seized machines and other instruments like laptops, printers, laminating machines, halogen lights, scanners, papers and cartridges used in making forged currency after searching the house.
The RAB sources said that Jaman was the kingpin of manufacturing and supplying counterfeit notes to different parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka.
A case was filed with Boalia model police station in this connection and the arrested along with the seized notes and machineries was handed over to police on Friday afternoon.
