Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday briefed foreign diplomats stationed in Dhaka about the latest political situation, particularly about the ruling party leaders’ recent statements accusing acting party chairman Tarique Rahman of involvement in August 21 grenade attack case.
During the meeting at the jailed BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, which lasted more than an hour from about 4:30 pm, the party informed the diplomats that Tarique was implicated in the case ‘unjustly’ and under ‘political vendetta’, according to meeting sources.
Representatives of the mission of USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Japan, India, and Pakistan were among other countries present at the meeting.
No side held made any comment about the proceedings of the meeting.
BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Abdul Moyeen Khan were among others present.
