The 29th death anniversary of National Professor Mohammad Ibrahim, founder of Bangladesh Diabetic Association and Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM), will be observed tomorrow.
The BDA and a number of organisations will observe the day as the ‘Diabetic Service Day’.
They will offer prayers and place wreaths at the grave of Professor Ibrahim at Banani graveyard in Dhaka around 8:00am.
A discussion and views-exchange session with expert physicians and patients will be held at 10:30am followed by a commemoration meet at BIRDEM.
Social welfare minister Rashed Khan Menon will attend the commemoration meet as the chief guest while the programme will be presided over by BDA president Professor A K Azad Khan.
BDA general secretary Mohammod Saif Uddin and BIRDEM General Hospital’s acting director general Professor Zafar A Latif will also speak on the occasion.
After the programme, prizes will be distributed among the winners of the essay competition on ‘Life and Idol in Healthcare of Md Ibrahim’.
Another programme will be held on ‘Ibrahim Memorial Oration’ at BIRDEM auditorium in the morning at 11:30am. Chairman of board of directors of World Diabetic Foundation Anil Kapur will deliver a speech on the occasion.
Free diabetic screening will be offered from 8:00am to 11:00am at Dhanmondi Rabindra Sarobar and several other places on the day.
A free heart camp will be held at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital at Shahbagh. Cardiac patients will also be able avail free consultations from cardiac medicine and cardiac surgery experts from 9:00am to 3:30pm at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital.
