With the theme Stop Spinal Cord Injury, the International Spinal Cord Society and the Asian Spinal Cord Network will jointly observe the 3rd International Spinal Cord Injury Day today.
As a part of the initiative, the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed at Savar, along with its other associate organisations, would hold day-long programmes in Dhaka, said a press release on Tuesday.
The aim of the programme is to increase awareness about spinal cord injury among people.
The day-long programme will start with a rally at 8:00am.
A discussion session on the causes, consequences and management of spinal cord injury would be held on the CRP premises at 10:00am, the release said.
Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, chairman of Bangladesh NGO Foundation, will attend the discussion session as chief guest while CRP executive director Md Shafiq-ul Islam will preside over the programme.
The CRP, a non-government organisation, which stands for treatment and rehabilitation for the spinal cord injured people, was established in 1979.
It established Spinal Cord Injuries' Development Association Bangladesh in 2011.
