Power and energy week is going to be observed in September 6-8 across the country.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the programme at a function at International Convention City in Bashundhara in the city on September 6, said officials at the power and energy ministry.
At the inaugural function, officials of different public entities will be awarded for their performances while journalists will be given awards for outstanding achievements in reporting.
A three-day power and energy fair will also be held at the same venue as part of the programme.
Highlighting the government’s success in the power sector will be the main objective of the week while creation of mass awareness in economic use of electricity will be another motto of the three-day programme, said a top official of the Power Ministry.
The government has been observing the power and energy week every September for the last few years as part of its development campaign.
According to official sources at the power and energy ministry, more than 100 public and private entities in the power and energy sector will participate in the fair this year to showcase their product and services.
They will interact with the consumers and stakeholders at the fair as well, they said.
They informed that a number of seminars will be organised by Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority while the power cell will coordinate the management of the fair.
Officials said that different entities will hold various programmes at district and divisional levels during the week.
