The High Court Division on Monday put off for the 2nd time hearing application of acclaimed photographer Shahidul Alam seeking bail.
The court said it would hear today his bail application.
The court rescheduled the hearing to give time to attorney general Mahbubey Alam to appear for the government following request from deputy attorney general Arobindo Kumar Roy.

On the night of August 5 Shahidul Alam was picked up from his residence and took him to the office of the Detective Branch for interrogations during which he was tortured physically and mentally.
At one stage a case was filed against him under Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology Act alleging that he had incited schoolchildren’s movement for safe roads.
Shahidul Alam was interrogated in remand for seven days.
A vacation bench of Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman rescheduled the hearing for today.
The bench asked the DAG to submit the government’s affidavit if it wants to oppose granting bail to Shahidul Alam.
His lawyer Sara Hossain vehemently opposed adjourning the hearing even before it could start as it’s already a month since he had been detained.
On August 28, the bench deferred the hearing until Monday.
On August 27, Shahidul Alam filed the bail application in the High Court Division after judge Imrul Kayes on August 20 rejected Sara’s request to hear the bail application since Shahidul Alam has been ill in the jail custody.
She said that Shahidul has unduly detained in jail to justify the action the DB misquoted his remarks in the first information report.
She said that Shahidul Alam’s remarks were still available on the internet from where anyone could find out how the government distorted his remarks.
‘We can’t understand why a man will be detained for a month for saying what he actually said,’ asked Sara.
On August 12 a metropolitan magistrate sent Shahidul Alam to the Dhaka Central Jail without hearing his lawyer after the DB produced him in the court after interrogating him in remand for seven days.
In his statement Shahidul Alam told the magistrate’s court said that he had been tortured physically and mentally in the custody soon after the DB picked him up from his home.
Later, his lawyers told reporters that Shahidul Alam was in good health before he was picked up.
