Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon on Monday said that there was nothing to get panic despite the increase in the number of dengue patients this year.
Speaking at the inauguration of a crash course on identifying the larvae of Aedes mosquitoes and its extermination measures, Khokon said that no Chikungunya cases were reported this year as opposed to last year.
He requested the people to create awareness and initiate the clearing away of abandoned tires, flower tubs and water collected from air conditioners from their homes.
The mayor also instructed everyone not to allow water to be stored at a specific location for more than five days as doing so might increase the risk of Aedes mosquito breeding.
