10 killed, 78 injured in Rangpur, Bogra road accidents

At least 10 people were killed and 78 others injured in separate road accidents in Rangpur and Bogra on Sunday.
Of the deceased, seven were killed and 40 others injured in a road accident in Rangpur while three others killed and 38 more injured in two road accidents in Bogra.
Fatal accidents are occurring frequently on anarchic roads though it is barely a month since countrywide student protest on the demand of safe roads virtually brought the nation to a halt.
They suspended their protests after the government accepted their demands.
The New Age Correspondent in Rangpur reported that at least seven people were killed and 40 others were injured in a head-on collision between two buses at CO Bazar area in Rangpur on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Rusana Begum, 18, of Belka village under Sundargonj in Gaibandha, Ajimun Begum, 45, of Saidpur upazila in Nilphamari, Shahin, 12, of Panchagarh, Nur Banu, 40, and Felki Begum of Kodaldanga under Kishoregonj upazila in Nilphamri, Abdur Rahman, 60, of Thakurgaon district and Sumi Begum, 25, of Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur.
Of the injured, 30 were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Rangpur Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge Moktarul Islam said a Panchagarh-bound BRTC bus collided head on with another bus coming from opposite direction at CO Bazar of the city leaving six people killed and forty one injured on the spot. On information police and fire fighters reached the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to RMCH, where Felki Begum died.
An injured patient admitted at RMCH, Jobayer Mia, said the accident took place due to reckless driving of the BRTC bus driver.
According to the on-duty physician at RMCH, Muntasir, the condition of eight persons were critical.
The OC also told that police seized the two buses but the drivers and helpers managed to escape the scene.
Acting deputy commissioner Ruhul Amin said a three-member probe committee, led by additional magistrate Rasidul Mannaf Kabir, was formed to investigate the accident.  
In Bogra, three people — Sajjad Ali, 20, of Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha, bus driver Mithu Mia, 30, and bus supervisor Jahidul Haque, 25, of Shamserdighi under Shibganj in Bogra were killed and 38 others injured in two road accidents in the district on Sunday, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha reported.
Sherpur police station OC Humayun Kabir said an accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus of Ena Paribahan collided head-on with another bus of Chadni Travellers in Mohipur area under Sherpur upazila, leaving 32 people injured around 12:05am.
Of the inured, Sajjad Ali and Mithu Mia died on the way to hospital.
Another accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of SR Paribahan hit a truck from behind at Dhunatmor in Sherpur upazila early on Sunday, leaving nine people injured, the OC added.
The injured persons were taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where Jahidul succumbed to his injuries.
According to Passenger Welfare Association of Bangladesh data published on Friday, at least 259 people were killed and 960 others were injured in 237 road accidents between August 16 and August 28.
On Saturday, at least nine people were killed and 35 others injured in two road accidents in Gaibandha and Netrakona.
