Two more bodies were recovered from Chalan Bil on Sunday morning raising the death toll to five from Friday’s tourist boat capsize in Paikpara area under Chatmohar in Pabna.
Rescue drive was called off on the day after recovering total five missing bodies in last two days.
Fire fighter rescuers recovered the bodies of businessman Rafikul Islam Swapan and Billal Hossain Goni, senior scientific office of regional agriculture research institute, Ishwardi, Pabna from the water body at about 9:00am on Sunday said KM Saiful Islam, assistant director of Pabna fire service.
‘All the total five missing people recovered within 30 hours of the incident. As there is no other reported missing so the rescue operation has been called off,’ Saiful said.
Earlier, five people went missing as a tourist boat with twenty-two visitors drowned at Paikpara point of Chatmohar when they went to visit the beauty of Chalan Bil. Three bodies recovered on Saturday and the two others recovered on Sunday as the death toll reaches five.
The victims are Billal Hossain Goni, scientific officer of regional agriculture research institute in Ishwardi upazila, his wife Momtaz Parvin Sheuly, trader Rafikul Islam Swapan, his daughter Sadia Khatun and Shahnaz Parvin Parul, a housewife.
‘Body of the all victims recovered and handed over to their families in two days rescue drive,’ said Md Bodruddoza, officer-in-charge of Chatmohar police station.
