Renowned Lalon artiste Farida Parveen entertained the audience singing popular Lalon songs at a music show held at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library on Thursday.
The programme titled ‘Maular Obhishek’ was jointly organised by Sadar Prakashoni and Heraban Manab Sangha.
Farida Parveen captivated the audience singing songs like Sorbosadhon siddho hoy taar, Manush guru nishtha jar, Jene shune rakhe mone, Sunile pran chomke uthe, Satya bol supothe chol and others.
‘Lalon’s songs celebrate humanism and secularism. His songs can educate us and teach us to be tolerant’, said Farida Parveen.
Samir Baul, Helal Chishti and others also performed at the programme.
Samir baul began his performance singing the song Bol tui bol amarey radha. Besides, the artiste, accompanied by his troupe, presented the song Eso Hey oparer kandari at the programme.
Helal Chisti rendered two Nazrul songs Uchaton mon ghore and Hey gobindo rakho charone. Kabiri Das sang Nabi nabi, De de paal tule de and others.
‘Baul songs remind us of our roots. These songs celebrate humanism and remind us to be more tolerant to each other. We all should aspire to learn from bauls songs’, Atika Islam, an audience member, told New Age.
