Officials visit Tripura Palli

Chittagong district administration officials on Wednesday visited the Tripura Palli of Sonairkul Udalia of Farhadabad union under Hathazari upazila where an outbreak of measles last week claimed lives of four children and hospitalised 22 more.
Acting deputy commissioner Md Habibur Rahman distributed dresses among 19 children who have been undergoing treatment in Hathazari Health Complex.
He said that the district administration distributed 20 kilograms of rice, cash money and mosquito nets for each of the 52 families of the Tripura Palli.
Habibur informed that the administration had taken initiatives to end their drinking water crisis and to arrange for their regular medical checkups. Three deep tube wells and 26 toilets are being constructed there, he added.
The administration has sent a letter to the Prime Minister’s Office to take development programme for the people of the area, he said.
Hathazari upazila nirbahi officer Akhtarunnesa Sheuli, Hathazari Health Complex health officer Abu Syed Md Imtiaz Hossain and upazila project implementation officer Niaz Morshed were also present during the visit.
On Monday, the Directorate General of Health Service disclosed that the four children died of measles. A medical team of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research also visited the Tripura Palli and the infected children at Hathazari Health Complex on the day. The medical team collected samples from the infected children for laboratory tests and talked to their parents.
Hathazari Health Complex’s Imtiaz Hossain told New Age that 19 children were undergoing treatment in Hathazari Health Complex. ‘They are improving,’ he said.
Imtiaz Hossain said that the Tripura Palli was under their vaccination coverage.
