Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Wednesday gave Bangladesh Nationalist Party permission to hold public meeting at Nayapaltan in front of the party's central office on September 1 marking its 40th founding anniversary.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at an impromptu news briefing at the party's central office around 4:00 pm said the DMP commissioner gave them verbal permission to hold the public meeting at Nayapaltan in front of the party's central office.
Rizvi said the rally would be held at 2:00pm.
Earlier on the day, a three-member BNP delegation Abul Khaer Bhuiyan, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie and Abdus Salam Azad met DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia at the DMP headquarters, it was informed at the briefing.
BNP had sought permission for holding the rally either at Suhrawardy Udyan or Nayapaltan.
