Local people blocked Dhaka-Chittagong Highway after a young man died Monday afternoon after being pushed from a moving bus allegedly by the bus helper in Chittagong city.
The deceased is Ashrafuzzaman Rony, 32, son of Oli Ahmed of Uttar Kattali, Chittagong.
Akbar Shah Police Station officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin said Rony had an altercation with the bus helper which plied between New Market and Bhatiari.
At one stage, the helper pushed the youth out of the bus around 3:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
Soon after the incident, locals blocked Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in front of the City Gate for half an hour.
Later, police brought the situation under control.
They also seized the bus but its driver and helper managed to flee.
