Bangladesh national cricket team will reunite today at the National Cricket Academy as part of their preparations for the forthcoming Asia Cup which is scheduled in United Arab Emirates in September.
Bangladesh’s strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayan is expected to conduct the first session that will begin with fitness test of the cricketers who are part of the 31-member preliminary squad that announced earlier.
Ace all-rounder Sakib al Hasan and Mahmudullah will miss the initial parts of the training camp as both of them are currently in abroad for their respective causes.
Sakib, who went to Saudi Arabia for performing Hajj, is expected to return to Bangladesh on August 29 and likely to join the camp afterwards.
Mahmudullah is currently in West Indies where he is taking part in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and he is expected to join the squad after September 4 after the end of his team’s last league match.
Bangladesh team will take part in several skill, gym, fielding and match scenario sessions during their two-week long training camp and they will continue their preparations until September 6.
The Tigers are expected to leave Dhaka for UAE on September 9 to take part in the 14th edition of the tournament.
Bangladesh, who are drawn in the Group B of the six-nation tournament alongside Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, will start their campaign by facing Sri Lanka on September 15 in Dubai.
The Tigers will take on Afghanistan on September 20 in their second and final group match at Abu Dhabi.
Top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four round of the tournament.
