Awami League has nominated businessman Abdus Salam Murshedy as the party’s candidate in the by-election for Khulna-4 constituency.
The decision was made Monday evening at a meeting of the party’s parliamentary nomination board at Ganabhaban, the official residence of the prime minster, where president of the party Sheikh Hasina was in chair.
Emerging from the meeting, committee member and office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, talking to New Age, confirmed the news of Murshedy’s nomination.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Mostafa Rashidi Suja who died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on July 26.
