A section of leaders and activists of Sylhet district and city units of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal on Sunday claimed that their fellow Fayzul Haque Raju was killed on August 11 as part of the effort to protect the existed committees of the two units.
The city JCD former assistant publicity secretary Raju was killed in a factional clash that took place in front of the Kumarpara residence of Sylhet City Corporation mayor-elect Ariful Haque Chowdhury in the night of August 11. The JCD leaders demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Raju and their expulsion from the organisation.
They made the demands addressing a press conference held at the Sylhet Press Club in the afternoon. Expressing their frustration for not arresting the actual killers of Raju, the JCD leaders alleged that the police arrested three accompanies of Raju instead of arresting his killers.
Stated the district JCD general secretary Dilwar Hossain Dilu had no experience of student politics and could not even pass the secondary school certificate examination, they alleged that a group of miscreants led by Dilwar and Abdul Rakib Chowdhury killed Raju.
The leaders in the press conference requested the JCD central council to take immediate step to expel the killers of Raju from all levels of the organisation.
The JCD city unit former organising secretary Badrul Azad Rana read out a written script in the programme that was attended, among others, by its district vice-president Nazrul Islam and Mashrur Rasel, city vice-president Suhel Rana, district joint general secretary Anwar Hossain Raju and city joint general secretary Shakilur Rahman Shakil and the city unit assistant secretary Abul Hossain.
