Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Gosthi organised an installation to grow awareness against road accidents on Shoparjito Shadhinota premises on Dhaka University campus on Friday.
The installation, titled ‘Kede Phirey Shunno Paduka’, featured empty shoes of road accident victims.
The installation depicted the importance of ensuring road safety by displaying shoes of 46 victims, who died in tragic road accidents at different years across the country.
A pair of shoes belonging to late noted cinematographer and journalist Mishuk Munier was also displayed.
Mishuk was killed in a road accident along with filmmaker Tareque Mashud and three others on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghoir upazila, Manijgank, on August 13, 2011.
Besides, the show also displayed short biographies of the road accident victims.
‘We demand discipline in the transport sector and justice for those who died in road accidents’, Kongkon Nag, publication secretary of Udichi, told New Age.
The show attracted a large audience.
‘Such shows can make people aware about the importance of discipline in transport sector. The organisers should hold more such shows on the issue in future’, Amanul Islam, an audience, told New Age.
‘The government must ensure road safety so that we can return to our families safely at the end of the day’, said Shamsul Haque, an audience.
