Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team will begin their 18th Asian Games campaign today when they face
Chinese Taipei at the Garuda Theatre in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The women’s team will be hoping to earn a medal in this edition of the games after they clinched the bronze medal in the last edition of the games in Incheon, South Korea four years back.
They also managed the bronze medal in the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games when the event was introduced for the first time.
Bangladesh men’s kabaddi team will also begin their campaign today with the match against mighty India.
Though the men’s team have won three silver and two bronze medals in their games’ history, they
have failed to earn any medal in the past two editions of the games.
The last time that the men’s team won a medal was way back in the 2006 in Doha when they won the bronze medal.
Bangladesh’s shooters, swimmers and wrestlers will also begin their campaigns today.
Arnab Sharar Ladif and Sayeda Atkia Hasan Disha will take part in the 10-metre air rifle mixed
event while Noor Hossain Alif and Ardina
Ferdous will take part in the 10-metre air pistol mixed event.
Swimmer Mahfizur Rahman Sagar will take part in the men’s 200-metre freestyle heat while Khadiza Akter will take part in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke heat.
In wrestling, Ali Amzad and Sarot Chandra Roy will take part in the
men’s freestyle 74-kg and 86-kg categories respectively.
Bangladesh beach volleyball team, consists of Monir Hossain and Shahjahan Ali, will also begin their campaign today.
