Ashraf Shishir, who won national film award for his debut film Gariwala, has announced a trilogy depicting the life and tragic death of the founding president of the country Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The filmmaker will portray Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s political journey, tragic death and aftermath of the assassination in the trilogy.
The trilogy’s first film titled ‘570’ will depict the happenings of the first 24 hours after the killing of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the second film will depict conspiracies of army personnel and political leaders before the assassination and the last film will feature life and works of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
‘I have long been thinking of making films on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. I am now working on the first film of the trilogy’, said Ashraf Shishir, who hopes to begin shooting of 570 by November this year and release the film on August 15, 2019.
‘570 will depict the happenings of the first 24 hours after the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his burial, protests of people at different places and so on’, added Shishir.
So far, Shishir has made two acclaimed films namely Gariwala and Gopon. Gariwala, which was screened at over 100 film festivals in 36 countries, earned the filmmaker 27 international awards along with the national film award in the best short films category.
